Tomatoes – As of May 7th, all tomatoes imported into the U.S. from Mexico will have a 17.56% duty applied by the Department of Commerce. This will affect the tomato market nationwide in the coming weeks, although the true impact is yet to be determined. Please read the Market Report weekly for up-to-date information and recommendations.
Celery –The prolonged shortage of bulk and pre-cut product continues. Pricing is extremely high, and quality is fair. Avoid use where possible.
Avocados – Supplies have improved but not enough to meet demand, particularly on 60 CT and smaller fruit. Pricing is higher than normal. 
Cauliflower – Supplies continue to be very light out of Salinas Valley. conditions are also affecting Cauliflower. Pricing is higher than normal, with fair quality.
Green Bell Peppers – Field transition from South Florida into Georgia, and in Mexico, has caused a temporary supply gap. Quality is good, but pricing is higher than normal.
Green Grapes – Mexico and California’s harvests are very slow to ramp up this spring. Pricing is extremely high in most areas, and quality is fair. Conditions should return to normal by the end of the month.

Fiddlehead Ferns – The highly anticipated East coast harvest is here! 
Ramps – Supply is winding down as the weather gets warmer – reach out to your sales rep before they are gone for the season!
Early Season Stone Fruit – California Peaches, Nectarines, Plums and Cherries are starting to become available – ask your sales rep for recommendations!
Cucumbers – Quality is very good on field-grown Cucumbers out of Central Florida and South Georgia. 
Berries – California berries are very nice quality, stock up on Strawberries, Blueberries, Blackberries and Raspberries.
Grapes – Quality is very nice on Red Grapes out of Mexico and California. 
Asparagus – Locally grown Asparagus is available in most of the Midwest! 

Weather Update

California: Wet weather and gusty winds in central growing regions, with slightly below average temperatures.
Mexico: Seasonal temperatures and precipitation in all growing regions.
Florida: Warm, humid conditions and seasonal precipitation, primarily in the southern half of the state.
