Asparagus – Peru and Mexico continue to have light harvests.. Quality is good, but pricing is higher than normal.

Tomatoes – High pricing and fair quality is expected to continue through mid-to-late January for most varietals as Mexico recovers from recent severe weather and flooding.

Lettuce – Cold, wet weather and overnight plant icing in Yuma, Arizona has impacted quality and supplies of all head lettuces. Pricing is higher on all lettuce products.

Broccoli/Cauliflower – The cold and wet weather in Yuma has also impacted quality and slowed the harvest of Broccoli and Cauliflower. Bruising and discoloration are most commonly reported. Pricing is higher on all products.

Arugula – Supplies of Arugula are very limited, again due to the cold wet weather in primary growing regions. Quality is fair, pricing is higher, and orders may be shorted. Consider using Spring Mix, Arcadian Blend or Spinach as alternatives.

Soft Squash – Supplies of Zucchini and Yellow Squash are very light in all growing regions. Quality is fair, particularly out of Florida, and pricing is higher than normal. Limit use where possible, and consider using seasonal hard squashes as an alternative.

Avocados (Mexican) - Shortage of labor during the holidays in Mexico has created a shortage of fruit in the pipeline. Market has increased 20% over the past week and will continue to increase leading into the Super Bowl.
